The industry is experiencing a boom in wealth creation, but the pool of qualified and experienced advisers is shrinking, leading to rising costs and declining service quality. This article explores the need for structured training, certification, and continuing professional development to address the capacity problem and ensure the industry's long-term sustainability. It draws on discussions from the Hubbis thought leadership roundtable and the 14th annual India Wealth Management Forum, as well as successful models from Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UAE. The author emphasizes the importance of building a robust framework, including industry-owned standards, certification, and continuing education, to create a trusted and sustainable profession. Recommendations include establishing an Indian private wealth professional body, creating a tiered certification ladder, introducing mandatory continuing professional development, building in-house academies, partnering with academia, and educating clients and the next generation of wealth. The industry must act now to build the talent it needs to convert the wealth boom into a lasting era of professionalism and trust.
